Beautiful Disaster
Sure that the
post-apocalyptic science fiction film Oblivion isn't the best of the
genre, but there are some really beautiful views of destroyed
Americans icons: the Empire State Building, the Pentagon, the
Superdome, the Washington obelisk with the Capitol in the back and
last not least New York as a landscape.

Post apocalyptic Dioramas
Lori Nix is a New York
based photographer who specializes in constructing dioramas and
photographing these. One of her projects is "The City"
showing a post apocalyptic dioramas of Art
museums, Broadway theaters, laundromats and bars etc.
She
tells also that she's very interested in depicting danger and
disaster, and greatly influenced by landscape painting, particularly
the Hudson River School and the Romantic painter Casper David
Friedrich.
Why
doesn't this surprise me.

Post-Apocalyptic Warriors
Two covers of Heavy Metal Magazine with the popular apocalyptic warrior chicks. Sure, it's more about pin-up than about warrior, but that's mostly like this with post-apocalyptic stuff.

Jungle Book meets David Roberts
The Night Watch by the english painter Briton Rivière (1840-1920). Rivière was specialized in animal paintings, so it looks like the Jungle Book meets David Roberts.

Nice Knife
Stryker (1983) directed by Cirio H. Santiago is another nice example of the trashy wave of post-apocalyptic movies in the 1980s. But I like the knife, nice detail.

Another post-apoclayptic girl with the ruins of Lady Liberty in the back by the Spanish artist Luis Royo. Evidently kindof cheap kitsch.

A Quiet Apocalyptic Movie
Seeking a Friend for the End of the World (2012) was a quiet apocalyptic movie. No zombies or road warrior punks only the great million dollar question: "How would you spend your few remaining days."
And by the way nice to see, the dog, the old post apocalyptic companion.

The Windup Girl
The Windup Girl is a biopunk science fiction novel by Paolo Bacigalupi and published in 2009. It's about Emiko, the "Windup Girl" an engineered human used as a sex slave in a dystopian future, where global warming has raised the levels of the world's oceans, carbon fuel sources have run out and mankind is harassed by deadly plagues and pests, caused by genetically modified modified plants and animals.
Probably the best post apocalyptic or dystopian novel I read this year.

I truly have a big collection of post apocalyptic movies, but I needed some time until I stumbled upon Post Apocalyptic Cowgirls (2008). I skip the screenshots.

Seven of Nine in Ruins
The American actress Jeri Ryan posing in January 1999 for Bikini Magazine. Probably it was considered a nice contrast to put the gorgeous Borg, Seven of Nine, in a scenery of industrial decay.
